Woman thrashed, evicted from house over petty issue

QILA DIDAR SINGH-A disabled woman was allegedly thrashed and evicted from house along with children by husband for objecting the stay of her brother-in-law - killer of two daughters - at her house here the other day.
Abida Parveen, 40, resident of Mohallah Islamabad, Ladhewala Warraich told the police that her brother-in-law Allah Ditta had killed his two - seven and eight years old daughters. His wife got divorce from him. He was in jail and after his release from the prison; nobody was ready to provide him shelter. "So he came to our house. I objected his stay at our house at which my husband thrashed me and our three children and evicted us from the house," she alleged. "Now, they are threatening to kill us," she added. She sought justice from the Gujranwala city police officer.
Six held for hooliganism
Police arrested six persons including a local councillor allegedly for hooliganism under the influence of liquor at a Mehndi ceremony here the other day.
The Qila Didar Singh police were tipped-off that some youths had consumed liquor and were speaking foul and were resorted hooliganism at the Mehndi ceremony of Waseem, resident of Ashraf Town. Police raided the place and arrested local general councillor Ali Shaukat Butt and five other including Iqbal Khan, Asif Nawaz, Rameez Ashraf, Imran Rafique and Amir Hamza. The police also recovered six litres of liquor from their possession and registered a case against them.
