Umar stuns Saqib in National Junior Badminton

PESHAWAR   -   Current national junior champion Umar Jahangir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and second seeded Raja Hassan Mujtaba of Punjab recorded victories to enter the quarterfinal of the National Junior Badminton Championship at indoor hall of the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda on Friday. In boys singles U-19, Umar Jahangir Umer Jhanghir defeated Saqib Ali of Army 24-22, 19-21, 23-21 while Raja Hassan outclassed Kamil Haider 21-11, 21-1. In U-17 boys singles, Army’s Rai Abdul Manan and Punjab’s Ahmad Niaz reached the quarterfinals along with other players while in U-15, Rai Abdul Manan beat Hashir Shah 21-16, 21-11 and Ahmad Niazi beat Mir Moeez 22-20, 24-22. In other U-15 matches, M Mohid beat Shahzain Malik 21-17, 21-12 and Sangheen beat Tayyab Subhani 21-13, 21-12. In the men’s double U-19 first round, Haseeb Ahmed/Ahmed Asif beat M Taha/Hamza 21-15, 23-21 and M Hanif/Haris Fareed beat Mekael Khan/Uzair 21-15, 19-21, 21-17.
