ISLAMABAD - All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has given 31st August as deadline to the government for restoration of deposed judges and impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf and has announced to hold countrywide strike on 1st September if its demands were not fulfilled.      "The APDM demanded that General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf must resign immediately, restore judiciary to the pre November 2, 2007 condition, restore the constitution of 12th November 1999 by rejecting constitutional package, and instantly stop the military operation in Balochistan and Tribal Areas and recover all missing persons across the country," Mehmood Khan Achakzai told a news conference here on Tuesday. Imran Khan, Liaquat Baloch, Rasool Bux Palejo, Dr Abdul Khai Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam and others were also present on this occasion. Achakzai said that the APDM also demanded of the government to control the price hike, shortage of flour and electricity, law and order situation and ensure the safety of life, honour and property of the people. He demanded of the government to withdraw the hike in  the prices of petrol, oil, electricity, gas, food commodities and fares of railways.    He demanded that the supremacy of the parliament should be ensured, external interference should be stopped and foreign elements should be flushed out of the country. "Meddling of Military force and secret agencies with the politics should be put to an end. Supervision of fascist organization Muttahida Quami Movement should be stopped and  Karachi carnage of 12th                    May 2007 should be probed.  Syncretism, extremism and terrorism activities should be eliminated in the country," he demanded. Achakzai said that provincial organizations of the APDM would hold seminars on August 5 in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and on August 6 in Faislabad, Larkana, Sawabi and Loralai. He said that the APDM would also hold seminars on August 13 in Multan, Nawab Shah, Nowshera, Qalat and on August 16 in Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Mardan and Noshaki. All the political parties of the APDM, lawyers, farmers, labourers and people from other walks of life would participate in the seminars. He said that the APDM would organize public gatherings on August 14 in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta for the protection of freedom and solidarity of Pakistan and for economic and democratic justice. To organize the political movement of the APDM through mass mobilization, he said that public meetings would be held on August 17 and 18 in Multan and Gujranwala respectively. The APDM would also organize public gatherings on August 19 and 20 in Mardan and Abbotabad, he said. He added that the APDM would organize public rallies on August 22 and 24 in Karachi and Hyderabad. Public rallies would also be organized in Quetta and Khazdar on August 25 and 26, respectively. He said that the APDM would inform the people about its programmes through advertisements, posters banners and handbills. "We will also meet traders, transporters, labourers and students unions to make our movement a success," he said. He said that Syed Manzoor Gillani was preparing the schedule, which would be sent to the Steering Committee. He said that a meeting of the Steering Committee would be held on August 13 in Lahore, which would settle the financial system of the APDM.         After these programmes, the central leaders of APDM would address a public seminar on August 31 in Islamabad and appeal to the people to hold a strike on 1st September and to make it a success. In reply to a question Achakzai said, "We appeal to PPP, PML-N and ANP to fulfil their commitments, which had been made for the supremacy of the parliament and independent Judiciary. Answering to another question, Imran Khan said that some people were playing the role of Mir Jaffar and Saddiq in the establishment to protect Pervez Musharraf and National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
