LAHORE - The Kisan Board Pakistan has announced to stage strong protest demonstration across the Punjab against the increase in fertilizer, diesel and electricity prices on August 7. According to a press release, the decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the Kisan Board Pakistan held here on Tuesday. The President Kisan Board Pakistan Sardar Zafar Hussain said that the fertilizer dealers and stockist are collecting million of rupees from the helpless farmers by selling the fertilizer on high rates as the government has poorly failed to provide any relief to the farmers. He further said that the fertilizers are not being provided to the farmers on subsidised rates while the government has further increased the diesel price in the country, where 200 billions litre diesel is consumed by the agricultural sector. Under such circumstances, he said, the farmers have decided to stage strong protest demonstrations all over the province on August 7 while the farmers would hold protest demonstration in Lahore on August 21.
