LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said the time has come for final talks with the Pakistan People's Party leadership on the restoration of deposed judges and impeachment of President Musharraf. They would be asked why the decisions regarding these issues could not been actualised since the masses had given the mandate on February 18. He was talking to mediamen at the Lahore Airport after he arrived from London here on Tuesday. He was received by CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, his cabinet members and a large number of party workers. Nawaz Sharif said, prior to the approaching talks with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, all the matters would be discussed in a meeting of the PML-N Working Committee to take the final decision. "We are conscious of our promises - restoration of the judges, impeachment of President Musharraf, law and order situation and price-hike - made to the masses prior to the February 18 polls, but these have not been actualised so far though we are standing steadfast and keeping close ties with our coalition partners. We will take up all these issues in our Party's Working Committee meeting. Now it is the time to take final decision as to why these promises have not been kept," he said, adding that reply to his letter had not been given so far. "We were elected by the people after our commitment for the impeachment of the President, but has not been met so far. On the other hand, price-hike, electricity and other crises have deteriorated the situation. We want judges restoration. Why these issues have not been resolved so far?" he quizzed, saying that these questions would be asked from the coalition partner. Nawaz Sharif said his party was in complete compatibility to the lawyers' demand regarding the restoration of the deposed judges. "We are adhering fast to our commitment. Lawyers' movement is beyond any doubts, and we fully support them. The future of the country depends upon restoration of judges and impeachment of the President," he said while responding to a question about the deadline of August 14 given by the lawyers. To a question about Prime Minister's visit to the US, Nawaz Sharif said Yousaf Raza Gilani should make the Americans understand that solution to the problem of extremism lies with the Parliament, not with one person. "The way Pakistan has been following one-man policy, it has not added to the prestige of the country. Only the Parliament's policy can bring desired results. We need to reason out the extremism and without doing, we cannot resolve the issue," he maintained.
