KARACHI - The hammering rains Tuesday lashed different parts of the metropolis, causing decline in the itching temperature of the city to 30-Degree Celsius with 57 per cent humidity in the air. The flip-side to this respite from heat was not, however a welcome change as the city of lights plunged into the darkness due to the torrential rains, which have exposed the preparation of the KESC to tackle any emergency situation in the monsoon season. Torrential rains worsened the power supply situation in the city, which is already badly affected due to the improper policies of the government. Newly constructed roads of the city became lakes, causing enormous problems to the citizens. The traffic's flow of the City was badly affected due to heavy rains that left the vehicles out-of-orders. Despite of the pleasant weather, the citizens suffered lot in the face of condensed traffic, inundated streets and roads thin public transport. Dozens of the bikers were injured as the roads tuned slippery following the rainfall. However, till the filing of this story, no casualty was reported in the City in the rain-related incidents. It may be mentioned here that rainfall started on 4pm while it gained momentum and turned into heavy rain around 7pm. Meanwhile, the MET department has forecasted continuous spell of rains in next 24-hours in almost all parts of the metropolis. The second spell of the torrential rains started on 09:15pm.
