ISLAMABAD - The Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani held a late night meeting with Aitzaz Ahsan last week in Rawalpindi, WAQT TV reported here Wednesday. Quoting reliable sources, the channel reported that the meeting took place at the request of the Army Chief. However, the channel says, details of what transpired in the meeting remain unclear and those privy to it were maintaining a complete silence. According to the report, Aitzaz Ahsan was visiting Islamabad last week when he got a call from the Army Chief to meet him. After attending a dinner with a few of his lawyer friends, Ahsan after 2:00am rushed to meet Gen Kayani, said the report. However, DG ISPR Maj Gen Athar Abbas, when contacted, said he had no knowledge of the meeting. Aitzaz Ahsan was not available for comment despite repeated efforts by WAQT TV, the report added.
