RAWALPINDI (PPI) - In connection with Benazir Bhutto murder case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi, Mian Khalil Naz, on Wednesday issued notices to prominent political figures including former president Pervez Musharraf, ex-chief minister Punjab Pervez Elahi, Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Federal Minister Dr Babar Awan to appear before the court on August 8. Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, the protocol officer of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto, had filed a case in the said court and made all the said political figures a party for their alleged involvement in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto on December 27, 2007. The court also summoned ex-DG Intelligence Bureau, Ejaz Shah, care taker interior minister Lt Gen (r) Hamid Nawaz, ex-CCPO Rawalpindi Saud Aziz, former District Coordination Officer (DCO) Irfan Elahi and SSS Operations Yaseen Farooq for explaining their position with respect to allegations levelled against them. The plaintiff contented that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated with a well-planned strategy in the suicide attack in which 17 other people were also killed.
