PESHAWAR - A leader of PML-Q was shot dead while two others including his son and nephew sustained critical injuries when some militants, by storming into their house, sprayed bullets at them in Poran area of district Shangla, police said on Wednesday. The 'Q leader, Khalil-ur-Rehman, who was brother of late MPA Pir Mohammad Khan, breathed his last on the spot. According to the police, two of the attackers were also killed when a guard of the 'Q leader opened fire at them in retaliation. The injured were later rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where, according to doctors, their condition was stated critical. Late MPA Pir Mohammad Khan was among those killed as result of a suicide attack at the house of PML-Q NWFP President and MNA Amir Muqam in Hayatabad in 2007. Due to the ongoing military operation in the volatile Swat, most of the militants are believed to have fled to the adjacent areas of Shangla and Buner. However, the provincial government claims that the security forces are chasing these militants deep inside these areas to net them.
