LAHORE The appeal tribunal of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan has upheld the two-year ban on female athletes Sadaf and Javeria for using banned drugs. The two players were banned for using metabolic steroid, a drug banned by the World Anti-doping Agency, which is reported to enhance the performance of players. In its session on Thursday, the panel which was also observed by Dr Waqar, found the statements of the athletes unsatisfactory and upheld the ban. The athletes, who were diagnosed with 22.4 ng of the drug, said that they would appeal against the ban and would go to the IOC appeal tribunal. They were of the of view that they did not know the nature of the medicine given to them by a doctor and as they were unaware and they should be given another chance like Shoaib Akhtar and Muhammad Asif were given in 2006.
