LONDON (APP) England Under-19 cricketer Azeem Rafiq has been suspended by Yorkshire County Cricket Club following reports of misconduct whilst he was on England duty at Northampton. Rafiq, a leg spinner and a middle order batsman, is also likely to be summoned to Lords to face an ECB Disciplinary Committee over the next few days. A club statement Thursday said a full investigation will be carried out into the events leading up to the player being sent home by ECB team management before deciding on what course of action they will take. The matter came to the attention of the club following Rafiqs four-letter outburst on the social networking site, Twitter. Stewart Regan, Yorkshires Chief Executive said, Azeems behaviour was totally unacceptable and the club will not tolerate it. Our professional players are role models to aspiring young cricketers and need to behave as such. Whilst Azeem has apologised formally to the ECB, the club and the coach in question still intend to carry out a full investigation before deciding on what disciplinary action to take.
