LAHORE - High Commission of Pakistan in South Africa has decided to set up warehousing facility in Republic of South Africa to show-case Pakistani products. Zaigham Uddin Azam High Commissioner of Pakistan stated this while addressing the luncheon ceremony held in honour of the visiting Pakistani delegation of 39 businessmen representing 22 companies who participated in SAITEX Exhibition, which held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, South Africa. According to an official handout issued on Thursday, the exhibition was held under the aegis of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with the High Commission of Pakistan. South African business community, Pakistani exhibitors, Officers of the High Commission of Pakistan and the city elite attended the reception. Zaigham Uddin emphasized the importance of exports in earning foreign exchange for Pakistan. He observed that South Africa is an emerging global economic hub, which has a lot of potential for Pakistani goods. Pakistani exporters, with their quality products, can act as powerful diplomats of Pakistan. On the occasion, Dr Moinuddin Wani, Commercial Secretary, Trade Commission of Pakistan informed about the areas in which both the countries can enter into mutual cooperation for enhancing trade and investment. He apprised the South African businessmen about the vast potential and range of opportunities that South African entrepreneur can benefit from in terms of trade, and the areas where Pakistan can utilize the expertise of South African businessmen through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). He also pointed about the keenness of Pakistani businessmen to develop trade relationship with their South African counterparts, which is depicted by the fifth visit of Pakistani businessmen to South Africa in 2010 despite difficult times in the world economy. The Pakistani exhibitors included businessmen from different sectors including textile and made-up, sports & leather goods, handicrafts, stationery, kitchenware, carpets, Jewellery and confectioneries. It may be added here that SAITEX Exhibition has traditionally been the only multi-sectoral trade-fair of its size and kind in the African Continent; which annually hosts to hundreds of exhibitors showcasing products, technologies and opportunities from all over the world. Thousands of visitors and prospective buyers visited Pakistani stalls and showed keen interest in Pakistan products. First two days of the Exhibition were restricted to buyers from different trading sectors whereas on the last day, the exhibition was opened to general public.
