QUETTA - Five people including two policemen were killed in firing incidents within a span of just an hour, in separate areas of the provincial capital on Sunday night, police said.

In the first incident, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing in Pood Gali Chowk and wounded two persons seriously.

They were being shifted to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital. The victims were identified as Jalal-ud-Din and Muhibullah.

The second incident occurred at Arbab Karam Khan when three armed men entered a shop with sophisticated weapons and opened fire targeting an inmate Sadam Hussain Khilji who died on the spot.

The victim was owner of the shop.

In the third incident, a police mobile van was on routine patrolling at Jail Road when two armed men riding a motorbike sprayed bullets on it and fled. As a result, one policeman identified as Muhammad Sadiq died on the spot while the second Muhammad Asif breathed his last in the hospital.

The deceased were taken to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities.

In all incidents the attackers easily escaped after committing the crime despite presence of police, Frontier Corps Balochistan and other law-enforcement agencies.

When contacted police officials, they could not confirm motive behind the killings, however, said attack on police van could be a targeted incident.    *

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men abducted one Qurban Ali at gun-point from Hazargani, in the outskirts of Quetta and took him towards undisclosed location.

Police has registered separate cases of all incidents and started investigation, however, no arrest has been made so far in connection with the killings in Quetta.
