LAHORE –Babar Azam U-19 team skipper led Pakistan from the front as visitors inflict six wickets defeat on Australia U-19 in the first match of Youth ODI series played at Kerrydale Oval, Gold Coast.
Pakistan needed 188 runs for victory achieved the target four over earlier for the loss of 4 wickets. Pakistan lost its opener Sami Aslam when team score was 7.  Imam-ul-Haq and skipper Babar Azam steadied Pakistan innings and repaired the early damage and put on 80 runs for the second wicket partnership before former was caught by Bancroft off Sandhu when his personal contribution was 39 and Pakistan total was 87.
Umar Waheed and Babar Azam put on 80 runs for the third wicket stand and this time Babar fell prey to Paris when his personal score was 79 runs when team’s total was 167 runs. Umar Waheed unbeaten 34 and M Nawaz not out six helped Pakistan to reach the victory target in the 46th over. From Australia Paris bowled well and grabbed 2/30 while Buchanan and Sandhu got one wicket each.
Earlier, put into bat first Australia U-19s were restricted to 187 all out in the 46th overs of the 50-over match. KR Patterson saved his team from total disaster with his brilliant knock of 83 runs and helped his team to post 187 runs on the board. Bosisto (24), Bancroft (20), Buchanan (15) and Peirson (10) were the other players who could reach the double figures.
From Pakistan M Nawaz  chipped in with 3/36 while Ehsan Adil grabbed two wickets and Azizullah, Zafar Gohar and Usman Qadir got one wicket each.
