Drive against illegal hydrants on the cards

KARACHI - The overall situation as regards the provision of water in the metropolis is satisfactory.
This was said by Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid on Sunday.
He said that preparations had been completed for launching a drive against illegal hydrants in the city. The KWSB chief stated that a strategy had been devised in this respect. He said that by removing illegal hydrants the water supply to the people would be improved.
Farid pointed out that at the moment there are 30 illegal hydrants in the metropolis. He said that he has suggested that water theft be declared as a non-bailable offence. The KWSB chief hoped that necessary legislation would be undertaken in this regards.
