PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has stressed the need for promoting the spirit of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in society so as to strengthen development process.
He was talking to a delegation, comprising representatives of Committee Inter-Religion Cohesion, a non-government organization, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which called on him under the leadership of its senior office-bearer, Maulana Muhammad Shoaib. The delegation besides, Intikhab Khan Chamkani Advocate, Muhammad Jamil Qamar Advocate and Saifullah Khan was also comprised of Haroon Serb Diyal of Hindu, Sardar Chanjit Singh of Sikh and Bishop Yousaf Pitras of Christian communities. The members of the delegation apprised the governor about their services and achievements.
The governor on various points said that despite the fact that all the religions of the world stress upon maintaining peace, harmony and spirit of brotherhood in societies, yet, violence in the name of religion is also the tragic part of history. In fact, he remarked, raise in the level of the spirit of peace, harmony and tolerance helps in promoting the possibilities for dispensation of justice and accommodation in the respective societies. Highlighting the importance of education and awareness in societies, the Governor further pointed out that it helps to understand each other.
Responding to various suggestions of the delegation the Governor said that it is always his utmost endeavour to participate religious ceremonies of all segments of society and he will try his best to make this possible to the maximum extent in future too.
Meanwhile, the members of the delegation thanked the governor for providing them the opportunity of meeting and presenting their point of views.
