ISLAMABAD: Protesters today clashed with police and law enforcement agencies during an operation against illegal settlements in the I-11 sector of Islamabad.
According to our sources, at least three people got injured in the clash while many protesters were reportedly arrested. Police and Rangers used tear gas to dispel protesting residents who were pelting stones.
Also, heavy machinery of the Capital Development Authority was used in the operation to demolish slums.
Sector I-11 primarily belongs to the Afghan refugee population while F-6, F-7, G-7, G-8 and G-12 have Pakistani Christian and Muslim population.
