LAHORE - The City police on Monday claimed to have arrested seven terrorists of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad and Tehreek-e-Taliban from different areas of the city. Police also recovered huge cache of explosive material and weapons from their possession. According to a handout, the city police arrested the terrorists from T-4 Ali Park, Bund Road after an exchange of fire. It said that the accused had planned terrorism bids in the city. They entered the city from Motorway on public transport. The alleged terrorists identified as Karim Bukhsh, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Younas, Shafaqat Farooqui and Hafiz Muhammad Ijaz were arrested from Sherakot Bus Stop. A 222 bore rifle, a 244 bore rifle, three pistols, 22 kg explosives, two and a half Kgs bolts and bullets of rifles were recovered form them. While the others Shehzad, Ijaz Muhammad and Muhammad Ramazan were nabbed from Bund Road. During the raid, the police recovered 4 kg explosive from Shahzad and 3kg explosives from Ijaz Mahmood. However, Muhammad Ramazan, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan managed to escape from the scene leaving a bag carrying 51 kg explosives. The statement further said that the accused were trained by banned outfits. It said that during the preliminary investigation, they confessed to have planned carrying out suicide attack in Lahore and on Corps Commander Karachi.
