MICHAEL Jackson was as fit as a 20-year-old and looked in great shape on the night before he died, according to dance studio boss who saw the star rehearse for his comeback tour. Robert Baker said Jackson had never looked better - contradicting previous reports that the singer appeared listless as he went through his paces at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Little more than 12 hours later, Jackson suffered a cardiac arrest at his home. He was said to be taking a cocktail of drugs including painkillers and anti-anxiety medication. Michael was in great shape, he definitely wasnt your average 50-year-old. Doctors who checked him out for the insurance firms were amazed. One of them even joked that he had the condition of a 20-year-old, Baker said. Four dancers from my studio were selected for his tour and were in rehearsals with Michael every day. These kids are in their 20s, but they said Michael was unbelievable and could keep up with them easily. Baker told the Daily Mirror: If Michael had struggled in rehearsals or was pushing himself too hard we didnt know about it. Every indication from the bottom to the top was that he was ready for this tour. He had the stamina of a young man and thats why his death came as a complete shock. This is a man who knew his limits, he had been putting on shows for decades and understood his body. AEG had people watching Michael at rehearsals to protect their investment - they surely would have noticed if he was struggling? Magician Ed Alonzo, who was working on illusions for the 50-date tour at Londons O2 arena, said Jackson looked fantastic as he rehearsed in the days before his death. Alonzo recalled: I just thought, 'Wow, he still has it. When he did Thriller, I was just in awe. It was a privilege to be able to watch the concert no-one will see now. The choreography, all of it... he just looked fantastic. - Daily Telegraph
