RAWALPINDI - Around 4500 armed policemen will be deployed at mosques, Imambarghs and important places for providing security to the worshippers in the Holy month of Ramzan.
The security of the city has been further beefed up to avoid any untoward incident. According to police, the police personnel would perform their duties and will monitor the situation minutely.
The mobile teams of police will continue to keep an eye on the situation. City Traffic police have also launched special drive against professional beggars.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed said that stern action would be taken against profiteers found involved in fleecing people during the holy month of Ramzan. He said cases would be registered against profiteers, hoarders and those indulging in black-marketing under the law.
He directed the Assistant Commissioner and Price Magistrates to conduct surprise raids to ensure availability of goods. The Commissioner said that flour bag would be available in Ramzan bazaars at Rs 310 against the market price Rs 330.
He said the city district government would set up 212 Dastar Khawans for the destitute at Sehr and Iftar. He directed to ensure cleanliness of bazaars and for making foolproof security arrangements.
