PIBC proposes Pak-India joint economic zones

LAHORE (APP) - Pak-India Business Council (PIBC) has proposed joint economic and Industrial zones on both sides of the International Border between India and Pakistan. This is of vital importance to promote good neighbourly relations between the two nations and minimize chances of war, said Chairman PIBC Noor M Kasuri at a meeting with Economic officer US Consulate Lahore, Jessica Berlow here. The meeting was to explore possibilities of US role towards normalizing Pak, India relations and bringing economic progress for betterment of the people. PIBC Chairman after the meeting told APP that he has suggested to the US official, that US should provide financial assistance for rural uplift like Dairy Farming, cooperative farming, food processing units, poultry &Duck farming, farm to market roads etc. for achieving better results instead of spending on NGOs. The Chairman further said that US being a strategic partner of India and a long time ally of Pakistan is equally important for both the countries and it can play a key role for developing relations between the two countries. Shahid Abbass economic specialist assisted the US, official while Director PIBC Zia ulddin Sheikh was also present.
