A tumultuous past

Ex-President General Pervez Musharraf landed in Karachi after nearly five years of self- imposed exile. He claims that he is ready to take risk to help Pakistan by participating in the upcoming elections. Though Pakistan has not been very lucky in getting nation friendly rulers, judging by Musharraf’s eight years performance and keeping in mind all the drawbacks of his leadership, he has some chance to get at least a few seats in the upcoming elections. During the last five years, the nation experienced such horrendous rule that now looking back at his governance seems much better.
Yes, he made some intolerable mistakes in the past because of which Pakistan is suffering today, but the bottom line is Pakistan could not have pulled through without a dictator like Musharraf. We are like a bunch of bratty children whose sincerity is a passing fancy; our yesterday’s heroes will be tomorrow’s antagonist. It all depends on which side of the bed we wake up in the morning. I'm not saying that Musharraf is a role model for all of us, but all I'm saying is that the positive aspects of his leadership should be given some credit.
