LAHORE - A girl died while nine others wounded seriously in roof collapse incidents which took place in different parts of the provincial metropolis during downpour on Sunday.

Rescue workers said that a teenage girl died when the top floor of a three-storey building collapsed on Kokab Road in Shafiqabad police precincts. The house owner, Muhammad Ilyas, said that his daughter Madeeha was offering prayers on the second floor when the roof of the third floor collapsed on her. Rescuers rushed to the spot and pulled out the girl after hectic efforts. The girl was shifted to the Mian Munshi hospital, were she expired.

Officials said that the house was in dilapidated condition and its roof collapsed amid rains on Sunday morning.

In another incident, three children sustained serious injuries when the boundary wall of a house collapsed on them on Bund Road in Shera Kot police vicinity. Rescuers said that Azad, Binyamin, and Naveed were admitted to hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, six members of a family were wounded when the roof of their house caved in during the rain in Chuhng. Niamat Ali, his wife, and four children were pulled out from the debris after hectic efforts and they were shifted to a hospital with serious injuries.
