Lahore Metro Bus Service has been temporarily suspended by the provincial government, Waqt News reported. According to reports the step has been taken due to security threats.

Reports suggest that after evaluating the current scenario in the capital and incidents at Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro station, the decision has been taken by the authorities. The protestors in Islamabad had attacked a metro station and broke the station’s glasses, eventually setting it on fire.

Metro Service is considered to be the backbone of public transport in Lahore. Metro Bus track was attacked following last year’s twin church blasts at Youhanabad, when the mob torched an entire station.

The service was also suspended after the hanging of Mumtaz Qadri due to the security threats from the angry protestors who attacked a Metro bus earlier in the day.
