Islamabad - National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources on Tuesday directed the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to provide the complete list of corruption cases under investigation in FIA, NAB and the ministry itself.

The committee expressed its displeasure over the submission of incomplete list of cases, and directed the ministry to provide complete list of cases and carry on from then onwards. The committee met with Malik Ihtebar Khan in the chair.

The committee also asked all the provinces to submit detailed reports with regard to distribution of royalty among oil and gas producing districts.

It directed the provincial secretaries of energy departments to ensure their presence in the next meeting for comprehensive presentations on the royalty issue.

While discussing discrimination against the oil and gas producing districts with regard to Royalty, Production Bonus and Corporate Social Responsibility, the committee directed the Provincial Energy Departments to submit details of the amounts of royalty remitted to the provinces by the federal government, and its district and tehsil-wise allocation by the provinces.

The committee also directed them to give a detailed presentation on the utilisation of the funds on that account.

It further directed the provinces to compile reports on gas theft incidents and their strategies to prevent them.

The committee took note of the theft of crude oil from the oil fields of district Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and directed the additional secretary, Energy Department, Government of KP and FIA to submit enquiry reports to it in this respect.

It also decided to take up the gas theft issue in its next meeting. 

Expressing concern over the absence of representatives of MOL Pakistan and oil and gas exploration companies as well as lack of preparedness of the KP official, the chairman adjourned the meeting till next week.

MNAs, including Muhammad Arshad Khan Laghari, Malik Ahtebar, Rana Afzaal Hussain, Mian Tariq Mahmood, Rana Muhammad Ishaq Khan, Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Nawab Ali Wassan, Nasir Waseem, Shah Jahan Muneer Mangrio, secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, senior officials of the Provincial Energy Department/ District Administration Karak and other senior officers of the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
