The business of fashion begins

Glamour rules first day on Hum Showcase

KARACHI - After creating pleasant ripples in the fashion world the second edition of ‘Hum Showcase’ kicked off the other day at Pearl Continental hotel featuring celebrity designers dazzling on the ramp with their jaw-dropping designs.  Monochrome, mix of floral prints, flared skirts, luxury Prêt, men in custom jackets, Satin Corsetry and slouchy brocade pants, the first day of Hum Showcase served us a brilliant combination of fashion and elegant styling. The star-studded red carpet was tad dull with a few prominent names in attendance. This year 32 female models have been enlisted to take part in the show including 15 international models from UK, Sri Lanka, Africa, Russia and 16 male models.  International model Lana Verbitskaya talking to this scribe said, “I had an amazing experience walking on the ramp for such brilliant designers. Pakistan is rich with extraordinary ability inside both the design and way of life ventures. Hum Showcase has made sense of how to have a gigantic impact in Pakistan’s fashion industry in a short time. The garments are fresh to the point that I can take them to Paris and leave rest of existence with them.” Sri Lankan model Chethana said, “I started modeling in 2016 and I’m a software engineer right now. This is my first time in Pakistan and the experience is overwhelming. The people are very supportive and the clothes are outstanding.”  Show Director RizwanBeyg said, “We are excited to be steering fashion away from the run-of-the mill and country’s best designers in our lineup, we are focusing on content that is creative and original. This was the second time we have done Hum Showcase and the expectation is very high. We had to call embassies and set meetings with them to bring the international models in our country which was a truly tuff task for us.”

Day1 featured collections by Zaheer Abbas, Adnan Pardesy, Hussain Rehar, The Pink Tree Company, Deepak & Fahad and Mahgul.  Following are the glimpses from Day1 of Hum Showcase:

 Zaheer Abbas

When it comes to merging fun and fashion, no one does it quite like Zaheer Abbas, he opened the show with his collection titled ‘Rebirth’ that focused on feminity and power dressing. Combining old world fascinate with new age style the attention was on rethinking power dressing in a more feminine way.

 Adnan Pardesy

Known for his contemporary modern approach, Adnan Pardesy’s collection titled ‘Pixel’ was all about abstract ideas incorporated on modern glitzy garments. The collection was inspired by the 60’s mod era that made a classic style statement on the ramp. Bold contrasting prints were the main highlights of the collection.

 Deepak & Fahad

Deepak & Fahad’s collection titled ‘Beyond Borders’ brought to the ramp bright colours characteristic of the season. The custom made jackets for men got a round of applause from the audience. The collection also showcased custom made bags for men in a unique style.

Hussain Rehar

With a gothic-chic approach towards design, Hussain Rehar’s collection titled ‘Fluerotica’ was absolute a must watch. Each garment he presented on the ramp made a style statement of its own. Green stain bomber jacket was the main highlight of the collection.

 Pink Tree Company

Last but not least The Pink Tree Company showcased its collection titled ‘Colour me secular’. Overall the collection was good enough but not so much stunning to their standard.

 Mahgul

Mahgul closed the show with her collection titled ‘Flight of the Bulbul’. Inspired by designer’s sojourn to Africa, the collection explored textural play and an abstraction in prints, combined with hand painted, monochromatic accessories. Psychedelic 70’s style prints and cuts were the main highlights of the collection.
