Number of teachers, students increasing in Bahawalpur Islamia University

Bahawalpur - Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob, Vice Chancellor, Islamia University, Bahawalpur has said that the Islamic University would soon become one of the top 100 universities of the world. 

The Vice Chancellor made the remarks while addressing a gathering of tehsil administration, Press and media and people on the occasion of swearing in ceremony at Central Press Club, Hasilpur on Monday.  He said that the number of students in Islamia University Bahawalpur was 13,000 two months ago which has increased to 45,000 and after future admissions the number of students in Islamia University Bahawalpur will be 55,000 and it will become the largest university in the country.  

He said that the number of teachers has been increased from 550 to 1000 and similarly the number of faculties has been increased from 7 to 13 and the number of departments has been increased to 128. Islamic University Bahawalpur provides facilities to students and community, he said. 

In order to do so, not only the number of admissions has been increased but also new departments have been started keeping in view the local needs, he said.

The number of buses has been increased from 35 to 55 and for the surrounding areas Ahmadpur Sharqiya, Yazman, Lodhran, Khanqah Shareef, he added.

Bus service has been started for Khanqa Sharif and Khairpur Tamiwali and Lal Sonhra, he stated. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that bus service for Hasilpur will also be started very soon. He said that Islamia University Bahawalpur has been started as an international university.  

In this regard, agreements have been signed with universities in 9 European countries and 100 students will be sent to Chinese universities for M.Phil and Ph.D. every year, he said.

Bahawalpur Press Club, Rahim Yar Khan Press in collaboration with the Lodhran Press Club, Hasilpur Press Club as well as the Chambers of Commerce and Civil Society from these areas, the University is fully engaged in research and teaching and co-curricular activities, he said.

Bahawalpur has achieved an exemplary status in terms of its performance, he added.

Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal Gul, Yousuf Tahim, Kamran Ashraf, Jamshed Akhtar, Syed Ali Tareen Bukhari, Khan Khuda Yar Channar, Chaudhry Asim Ayaz, Fayyaz Shahid Khan, Chaudhry Khalil Ahmad Bajwa, Rana Muhammad Shafiq, Umar Joya, Naseer Ahmad Nasir, Islam  Zameer, Riaz Ahmed Baloch, Khalid Zameer , members, Central Press Club Hasilpur, dignitaries of the city and elders of Hasilpur participated. President Press Club Yousuf Tahim appreciated the initiative of Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur especially for the children of journalists.  

He appreciated the launch of scholarships and the launch of bus service to the surrounding areas and the increase in the quality of education and enrollment.
