LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Tuesday said he had tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan as this post was a trust of the people as well as the prime minister.
In a statement issued here, the chief minister stated that he had resigned in the larger interest of the country and party.
“I would chuck the chief ministership after the resignation is accepted”; he said, adding that he was a lieutenant of PM Imran Khan and would remain so in future.
“If PM Imran Khan stays [in power] then everything else will sustain”, he argued, and added: “PM Imran Khan is my leader, and I will respond to his every call while continuing to stand by the party in difficult times”. He said he was not aspiring for any post but would always be loyal to PM Imran Khan. “Political offices are secondary things as the main thing is loyalty to the party and the nation along with the preference for the national interest. I assumed the post of chief ministership for serving the masses and worked day and night for the service of the people”, concluded Usman Buzdar.
Separately, parliamentarians including Hashim Jawan Bakht, Muhammad Sibtain Khan, Mian Aslam Khan, Taimur Bhatti, Hanif Pitafi, Samiullah Ch, Amer Nawaz Chandia, Javed Akhtar Lund, Mamoon Tarar, Ghazain Abbasi and others called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office and discussed the political situation on Tuesday.
The chief minister presented himself as a loyalist of the prime minister who had diligently worked for public welfare.
“I have burnt the midnight oil to come up to the expectations of the party leader and assured merit-based governance”, he maintained. He said he had full trust over PM Imran Khan and the party would be united under him.
