“Due to extraordinary security arrangements, no untoward incident occurred in the capital and its suburbs despite huge public gatherings,” he said.
The IGP along with Chief Commissioner Islamabad Amir Ahmed Ali and other senior police officers remained present on the roads, monitored the duty of cops and boosted the morale of the subordinates. They reviewed the security arrangements in the rally grounds where police had installed walk through gates for participants’ body search. There was a close coordination between police and district administration, he said.
Similarly, the Islamabad Traffic Police made extraordinary arrangements to ease the traffic flow. All the entry and exit points of the city were opened, whereas, an extra police force was deployed to keep an eye on the suspicious elements, the spokesman said.
All political gatherings were thoroughly monitored by drones and safe city cameras, he maintained. Islamabad had been divided into three zones and DIGs were heading the security staff. Police are fully prepared to maintain law and order during upcoming public gatherings of different political parties, he said.
IGP listens to public
grievances at open court
The police are committed to resolving public grievances on priority and protecting the life and property of the citizens and making out efforts to curb crime in the capital, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas while listening to issues and grievances of public as well as retired and serving officials during an open court held at Central Police Office on Tuesday.
The IGP sought an explanation of a citizen’s complaint about a delay in enquiry report and directed all zonal officers to listen to public complaints and resolve them purely on merit. During the open court, IGP listened to the grievances of the citizens and marked their applications to the concerned officers for timely action on merit. He also directed them to send reports to his office in the given time frame. He emphasized that Islamabad police would not leave any stone unturned to save the lives and property of the citizens adding that the Islamabad Police is taking many steps to facilitate public.
The IGP directed all the police officials to adopt a courteous attitude with the complainants visiting police stations and professionally accomplish their responsibilities.
