LAHORE - PML-N continued to participate in lawyers' movement for judges' reinstatement as on Thursday Punjab Excise & Taxation Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and MPA Nazia Raheel joined lawyers' rally on The Mall along with scores of party workers. Around three dozens of MSF students from MAO College joined the lawyers at Aiwan-e-Adal courts while holding PML-N flags. They were chanting anti-Musharraf and pro-deposed judges slogans. It is pertinent to mention here that last Thursday Lahore Bar Association president Manzoor Qadir had demanded the PML-N not to pay lip service but join their protests along with their activists. First time in the city, considerable activists of Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party also joined the lawyers' rally by wielding their party flags. District secretary Mubeen Khan Mohmand was leading them. Activists of Tehrik-e-Insaf, Tehrik-e-Khaksar, Jamat-e-Islami, Labour Party, Jamiat Ulema Islam, Concerned Citizens of Pakistan and Women Action Forum also joined the rally in considerable numbers and marched from Aiwan-e-Adal to Punjab Assembly Hall while holding placards and banners inscribed with quotations demanding restoration of sacked judges and removal of President Musharraf. A new momentum was witnessed among lawyers Thursday after rumours that Musharraf was quitting the Army House. Large number of lawyers as compare to their previous rallies joined the rally and were shouting full-throat slogans against Musharraf. Traders of Hall Road market showered rose petals at the protesters as they were passing from the Regal Chowk towards Punjab Assembly Hall. As usual a pick up carrying drinking water bottles was moving with the protesters to provide them water. Lahore High Court Bar Association lawyers after holding its general house meeting took to the GPO Chowk in shape of a rally in leadership of their president Bar Anwar Kamal and secretary Rana Asadulla. Mujtaba Shaja-ur-Rehman and Nazia Raheel also were with them. Lahore Bar Association lawyers in leadership of their president Manzoor Qadir joined the LHCBA lawyers at GPO Chowk. They reached there in form a rally which they took out from the Aiwan-e-Adal courts after holding their general house meeting. Lawyers of both the bars with participation of political and civil society activists started a joint march towards Chairing Cross while chanting anti-Musharraf slogans and demanding restoration of the sacked judges. After they reached the Chairing Cross, lawyers' leaders delivered their speeches and appealed the protesters to make the lawyers convention successfull which is scheduled on May 31 in Peshawar. Earlier addressing the lawyers at Karachi Shuhada Hall, Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujah-ur-Rehman said the PML-N leadership would join Lawyers' "Long March" on June 11 if the judges were not restored by that time hinting that even Mian Nawaz Sharif could take seat in the Judicial Bus along with lawyers and judges. The provincial minister was addressing a general house meeting of the Lahore High Court bar Association here at the Karachi Shuhada Hall on Thursday on the invitation of lawyers. The minister said lawyers were fighting against the forces of dictatorship since March 9, 2007 and PML-N government and the top leadership will support lawyers in the long march for the restoration of judges and will march towards Islamabad and the President House. Talking about the present stance of PPP leadership about the restoration of judges, he said Benazir Bhutto had once promised that PPP government would place the national flag back on the residence of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry by restoring him as Chief Justice of Pakistan. He said Pervez Musharraf shed the blood of innocent people and made hundreds of children orphans and many women widows just to prolong his illegal rule. He said President Musharraf would be held accountable for the misdeed he committed in the county and he would be impeached under Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan. He assured lawyers that PML-N would always support lawyers in their movement for restoration of deposed judges, rule of law and end of dictatorship. MPA Nazia Raheel addressing the general house meeting said that Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is our national asset who challenged the military dictatorship by not resigning under pressure of President Musharaf and other generals on March 9, 2007. She added that lawyers and the chief Justice wrote a history by not bowing down before the forces of dictatorship. LHCBA president Anwar Kamal, secretary SCBA Amin Javed, Rai Muhammad Nawaz Kharal, Ahmed Awais, Hafiz Abdur Rehman Insari, Firdous Butt, Wali Muhammad Khan, Rana Asad Uallh, Rana Farman Sabir, Arshid Gondal, and Malik Munsab Awan also spoke on the occasion. They said the dictatorship would be ended forever from the county and it will be done by lawyers and soon President Musharraf would be nowhere on the national scene. They said lawyers would get the Army House and the presidency vacated from President Musharraf. They said lawyers would ensure judges restoration in the middle of the long march which will start on June 11 from Multan.
