Machiavellian politics

Who rules Pakistan? There is complete confusion. Is it Bush's ambassador, judging by the high frequency of her contacts with government ministers, or our elected leaders? It can't be our elected prime minister because he is hardly making major decision impacting national politics. He is more a glorified assistant of Zardari who does everything himself. Now a corporate mega tycoon has been made the governor of Punjab to destabilise PML-N. Mr Asif Ali Zardari has given the minority MQM their choice of governor to buy peace for himself in Karachi but aims to shatter the peace in Punjab by first betraying PML-N. -MARYAM HABIB, Mirpur Khas, via e-mail, May 16.
