LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is paying special attention towards providing parking facilities to the people and besides provincial metropolis, parking plazas equipped with modern facilities will be constructed in other major cities of the province for this purpose. He said that the construction of state-of-the-art parking plaza of international standard in Liberty Market is in final stages whereas, the work on park and ride project at MM Alam Road will start soon. The CM said this during a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International Tony Davis, here Saturday. Shahbaz Sharif said that keeping in view the increasing number of vehicles, provision of facility of parking to the people was of great importance so that they could park their vehicles in parking plazas and make purchases peacefully. He said that parking plazas would help in improving traffic management and best facilities with regard to parking would be available to the people for parking their vehicles. He directed that transparent policy should be evolved regarding parking plazas and all projects should be of high quality. He said that like Liberty Market, plazas would also be constructed on BOT basis in various places of Lahore and big cities of the province. The CM directed Director General LDA to make special arrangements for security in parking plazas and give final shape to the process of identifying suitable places for construction of parking plazas at various areas of the City. Director General LDA informed on this occasion that a transparent policy had been adopted for construction of parking plazas and firms had been selected through Pre-qualification in this regard. Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International Mr Tony Davis told the chief minister that his company had a vast experience in parking plazas and it had completed such projects in various countries. He also gave a detailed briefing with regard to parking plazas in Liberty Market and park and ride project at MM Alam Road.
