ISLAMABAD (Online) - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Saturday sanctioned the power distribution companies to raise the power tariff by 77 per cent under fuel price adjustment formula. According to a notification, the power consumers will have to bear 20 per cent raise in the tariffs to be enforced from April 2010. Previously, a 57 paisa hike was approved in March 2010 under fuel adjustment; but under new adjustment, 77 paisa raise has been endorsed for April 2010. Thus, consumers will have to pay an additional 20 paisa per unit in Aprils power bills. The hike will be applicable to all consumers except those using up to 100 units only. The Nepra said the new bills would have the additional adjustment written separately.
