FAISALABAD - Irked people took to the streets against prolonged electricity loadshedding on Tuesday across the district.  They set tyres on fire, broke billboards of the opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, Raja Raiz Ahmad, and pelted stones on Wapda grid station. They continued their protest for more than three hours due to which traffic was blocked and passers-by had to face several problems.
The protesters hailing from Sidhupura, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Rajawala and other areas also raised slogans against Wapda and the government. They later broke the billboards. Majority of the people were of labourers.  They were of the view that due to 14 to 16 hours loadshedding, they had gone jobless from different factories. However, police and Fesco officials reached the spot, after which the activists dispersed. Electricity was disconnected in entire city on Tuesday from 10:00 am in the morning till the filling of this report and many other protest demonstrations were staged and rallies were taken in this regard.
