President Asif Ali Zardari today approved the appointment of Justice Umar Ata Bandial of Lahore High Court as the Chief Justice of the said High Court. The President also approved the elevation of Chief Justice LHC Sh. Azmat Saeed as Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the appointments were made on the advice of the Prime Minister as laid down in the Constitution. The Prime Minister had advised the President after the Judicial Commission’s nominations were subsequently endorsed by the Parliamentary Committee on the appointment of judges, he said.
