KARACHI - An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement among four people were killed in separate incidents of target killing here on Tuesday.
Police found a gunny bag body of a man from Northern Bypass near Marwat Coach bus stop in the limits of Mauripur police station.
The victim later identified as 34-year-old Jamil Mubarak was the resident of Masroor Colony, Mauripur. He was standing outside his home along with his son when some unidentified armed men came on two motorcycles and kidnapped Jamil and escaped. Soon after the incident, Jamil’s family informed the police and started searching for him. After two hours, police got information that a gunny bag body was lying at Northern Bypass near Marwat Coach bus stand. The body was later identified of Jamil Mubarak.
SHO Muhammad Atif said victim received a bullet on his head and his hands and legs were tied with ropes. Officer further said that victim was an active worker of MQM’s Unit 111, Baldia Sector. He was the employee of Post Office. Initially police revealed that political affiliation of the victim was the motive behind the incident but police were also investigating the case from different angles.
He said the victim belonged from the Katchi community and was father of two children. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medicolegal formalities and later handed over to his family. Police registered an FIR No 184/12 against Ashok, Chief and Nazeer alias mechanic on the complaint of victim’s brother Aslam and initiated probe into the case. Police said nominated culprits were associated with Lyari gangsters.
Similarly, in another incident, police found a shot dead body of a man from Northern Bypass near Quetta Hotel in the limits of Mauripur police station. The victim later identified as 28-year-old Khalid alias Illa was the resident of Shershah Baloch Mohallah. Police said the victim was labourer by profession and went missing from Monday.
The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities where doctor said he received a bullet on his head. He was unmarried and younger among his four siblings. Police registered an FIR No 185/12 against unidentified men on the complaint of the state.
Separately, a man was shot dead near New Sabzi Mandi Super Highway in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. The victim 38-year-old Niaz was the resident of Janjhar Goth, Sohrab Goth.
He was going to his workplace when three armed men came on two motorcycles and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly he received three bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said that victim was a civilian employee of Pak Navy.
The victim’s family took the body away after completing the legal formalities and no case was registered till filing of the report. In another incident, police found a body of teenage boy from Nullah in Pathan Colony in Site A police precincts. The victim later identified as 15-year-old Tariq Shah was the resident of Pathan Colony No 2 near Makkah Mosque. SHO Rao Rafiq said the victim was dumb and deaf and police have doubt that some unidentified men sexually abused him before killing and threw his body in Nullah. Police shifted his body to ASH for legal formalities where doctors said he died due to suffocation. Doctors reserved his post-mortem report and police moved his body to morgue and registered a case against unidentified assailants.
