Speakers pay rich tributes to volunteers

SADIQABAD - The Civil Defence volunteers were paid rich tributes during an awards distribution ceremony held at Allama Iqbal Library in Rahim Yar Khan for those remarkably rendered their services in natural calamities and sports events.
Addressing the ceremony, MPA Maiza Hameed said that the volunteers including women work round-the-clock in the wake of calamities for the people's security. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Organisation of Civil Defence for developing a passion in women for the cause.
On the occasion, MPA Engineer Javed Akbar said that the volunteers are doing a great job by providing security to the people under fear of their own security because of lawlessness. PML-N district president Mian Khalid Shaheen said that the organisation played a pivotal role and set an example by rescuing calamity-hit people.
Talking to the participants, District Coordination Officer Dr Javed Ashraf, who is also Civil Defence controller, said that volunteers devotedly serve the public in calamities as well as constructive activities such as floods, earthquakes, and sports. He termed them a light which illuminates the whole world. 
The DCO urged the youth to enrol for volunteer work in the organisation to serve the nation and the country. Later, Mian Aamir, Rescue 1122 district in-charge Dr Abdul Sattar, DO (Health) Dr Ghulam Rabbani, Allama Abdul Rauf, Mian Abdul Khaliq along with the DCO and the politicians gave away certificates, medals and shields to the high achievers and guests.
Earlier, District Officer Civil Defence Shabbir Ahmad Qazi briefed the participants about the aims of the organisation. For cooperating with organisation regarding holding of the ceremony, he thanked Mian Aamir Shahbaz, Anjuman Kariana Association president Asad Ghaffar, industrialist Abdul Rauf and Haji Asghar Ali.
