Refugees stage protest sit-in against AJK govt

MUZAFFARABAD - Kashmir refugees staged a protest sit-in here on Friday to press the government to meet their demands.
Hundreds of refugees and mujahideen from 13 camps set up in the surrounding of Muzaffarabad for the migrants of 1989, gathered in front of the press club holding large banners and placards painted with their demands and anti-Indian occupation slogans, were shouting anger against the AJK government for failing to live up to its promises of resolving their problems.
The refugees sat on the foot path in front of the press club and kept chanting slogans.
The president of all 13 camps and representatives of refugees welfare organizations were present at the camp. The sit-in was organized by Jammu Kashmir Refugee Welfare Organization (JKRWO). Chairman pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ghazali, President JKRWO Muzamil Aslam, Gohar Kashmiri, Qari Bilal, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Usman, and Saddique Dawood were prominent among the protestors. Addressing the protestors, their leaders said they will take every step to force the government to resolve their problems.
President JKRWO Youth Wing President Saddique Dawood while addressing the participants of the sit-in alleged that prime Minister Choudhary Abdul Majeed has not lived up to his promise of refugees settlement, rise in subsistence allowance and implementation of already fixed 6 percent job quota for refugees of 1989.
He threatened that 35,000 refugees of 1989 will not end their protest until the resolution of their problems.
