Govt introduced 11 new schemes for the development of S&TD in PSDP 2018-19


ISLAMABAD: The government has introduced 11 new schemes for the development of Science and Technological Division earmarking an amount of Rs 867.942 million in the upcoming fiscal year 2018-19.

The new projects scheduled for the new financial years are National University of Technology (NUTECH) amounting Rs 250 million to establish a quality varsity focusing on quality Technology higher education in the country.

Another projects with the funding of Rs200mln is Competitive Research Programme whereas same amount are also reserved for another major project Monitoring of Sea Level Rise, Sea Water Intrusion and Land Subsidence in Indus Deltaic Creek System with Special Reference to Sindh Coastal Cities floodline.

An amount of Rs100mln is also reserved for Establishment of Model Science School Ghaziwal.

The project of Establishment of Pak-Kore Testing Facility for Solar and Allied Equipment, is also planned amounting Rs 30.505 million for the new fiscal year besides Rs 30 million allocated for up gradation of Medicinal Botanic Medicine, PCSIR Labs, Complex, Peshawar.

For the up-gradation of Engineering and Computer Labs at Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Attock, an amount of Rs20mln were reserved whereas three other projects with the allocation of Rs10mln each are rehabilitation of karezes for sustainable groundwater management and livelihood improvement in Balochistan PCRWR, strengthening of Pakistan national accredation council for digital accredation and strengthening of Pakistan national accredation council for digital accredation.

The last project planned for the upcoming fiscal year is accrediation of NUST laboratories in accordance with ISO standards.
