Hashmi back after laying foundation of Gurdwara

LAHORE-Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, Syed Asif Hashmi has said that his visit to India had removed the misgivings between the Muslims and Sikh community. Talking to media after his return from India where he had gone to lay foundation stone of a Gurdwara, Sheesh Singh in Delhi, he said that he was the second Muslim after Hazrat Mian Mir to perform this act. Hashmi said that officiating the stone-laying of a Sikh Gurdwara through a Muslim was a manifestation of the love Indian Sikhs had for Pakistani people. He said it was an honour for Pakistan. He further said that he had telephonic conversation with Indian premier, Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister of Indian Punjab but could not see them in person due to important engagements at home. He told the media that Indians were happy over granting of MFN status to their country by Pakistan, as they thought that trade links between the two countries will enhance mutual trust and friendship. To a question, he said that every Indian was desirous of coming to Pakistan at the earliest and they wanted relaxation in the visa regime.
