OUR STAFF REPORTER SADIQABAD - If Pakistan fails to eradicate polio, international aid will be halted and she will be included in polio-affected countries, said an official of Rotary International District 3272 Rahim Yar Khan. Besides, it would be necessary to administer vaccination injections against polio and other diseases to all the international passengers, Rotary District Governor Pervaiz Ahsan said while addressing a meeting organised by Rotary Club Rahim Yar Khan. We should make an all-out effort to eradicate polio from the country as unfortunately, polio cases are still being reported in Pakistan like other few countries. For polio eradication in four countries, 70 percent funds are being provided by Rotary Club, he said. It has established 40 water filtration plants in the country and each plant costs Rs 680,000. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Governor Rabnawaz and Assistant Governor Muhammad Hanif said that the club was not only taking part in polio eradication drive but it was also engaged in other social welfare activities including rehabilitation and reconstruction in natural calamity-hit areas. On the occasion, former district governor Mirza Mumtaz Baig, RY Khan President Riaz Ahmad, former president Ehsanul Haq, Secretary General Sumera Hafeez, Mirza Bilal and Ramzan Ahmad also addressed the participants. The club also organise awareness campaign, seminar and walks on polio every month. Earlier, it also hold awareness seminars on dengue virus, they said. Later, the honorary shields were distributed among the local officeholders who delivered good performance.
