SADIQABAD - The superintendent of police (investigation) has suspended  the Saddar police officials who allegedly tortured PML-N leader Mian Farhad Ali and also ordered registration of cases against the cops.

SP Sheraz Nazir suspended Station House Officer Muslim Zia, Head Constable Manzoor Ahmad and three constables. He also ordered an inquiry against city police station ASI Abdul Jaleel and other policemen who were accused of torturing a journalist, Younus Vicky.

"No police officer is allowed to torture or humiliate any innocent citizen. Citizens will be given honour at police stations," the SP told a delegation.

The delegation had remonstrated the SP against the police officials. They said that Farhad Ali was the president of Seed Dealers Association and famous businessman and the police torture on him was intolerable. He was further told that the city police tortured the journalist whereupon the SP ordered case registration against the police officials.

He assured the delegation that peace-loving citizens would be provided security and said that the rude and aggressive attitude of policemen would not be tolerated and such officials would be shown the door.

The delegation was led by Anjuman Tajran President Khalik Salim and consisted of the representatives of trade bodies, journalists, politicians and students. It comprised Ehsanul Haq, Salman Mehmood, Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Shafiq, Khalil Ahmad, Akbar Shaheen, Qari Saeed Ahmad, Riaz Ahmad, Mumtaz Monus, Shakeel Jatala, Sani Chohan, Nasir Ali, Irfan Ali, Sultan and Abdul Jalil.
