RAWALPINDI – The 12th Convocation of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) would be held at Convention Center Islamabad today (Friday) at 10:00am.

As many as 693 students having post-graduate degrees, 393 graduate degree holders, 9 students with M Phil degrees and one scholar holding PhD degree would be awarded in the convocation.

During the convocation, 33 gold and 33 silver medals would also be awarded to the position holder students, said FJWU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir at a pre-convocation press conference here on Thursday.

Dr Samina informed that university from next session would initiate an under-graduate four years programme in Urdu literature that would focus on Urdu language skills, besides the research. She further said a hostel building for accommodation of 631 students was under construction and the facility would be completed by December 2013.

“The funds earlier promised for FJWU by Punjab government and Higher Education Commission (HEC) have not been provided for construction of the new campus. The university being an autonomous body has to bear all expenditures itself and the system was being run successfully without increasing tuition fees of the students,” she said.
