LAHORE – Unidentified gunmen ambushed two cars of Sikh Yatrees near Mangta Wala in Nankana district and looted cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees, police sources said on Thursday.

Sikh Yatrees, mostly from Indian Punjab, were on their way back to Lahore after attending the annual festivity at Nankana Shaib when armed bandits intercepted them. The sources further said that Gorbir Singh and Daleep Kumar along with their friends were robbed.

In a press statement issued from the Lahore Central Police Office (CPO), the Nankana district police claimed to have arrested one of the robbers.

The police have also recovered Ras 60,000 and other valuables from his possession. Further investigations were on.

Transferred: Inspector General of Police Punjab Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman ordered transfers and posting of following officers.

According to a notification, Usman Akram Gondal, awaiting posting, has been posted as Deputy Director (monitoring) Elite Police Force Punjab.

Mumtaz Ahmad SP (Legal) Gujranwala Region has also been transferred and posted as SP (Investigation) Nankana Sahib.
