QUETTA - Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has expressed his displeasure over the move of Senate Standing Committee for Finance to review the provincial Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and termed it violation of provincial autonomy and contrary to the Constitution.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he strongly protested over the move to review PSDP from 2002 to 2012-13 by Upper House Standing Committee in its meeting to be convened in Islamabad between December 3 to 5 next and summoning Chief Secretary Balochistan and other provincial officials.

He said that it was an open interference in the provincial matters of Balochistan and intolerable. He categorically declared that no provincial official would appear before the Committee without his permission. Raisani said that PSDP was planned for the development of people and the government being its custodian spent the amount for the welfare of the people. He said that the elected body like Provincial Assembly gave the approval of PSDP which is its legal and Constitutional privilege.

He said that who had given the mandate to Senate Standing Committee to review the PSDP of Balochistan and had it ever did in other provinces.

Raisani said that govt of Balochistan took serious notice of this anti-Constitutional activity and the province would strongly lodge its protest at high-level.

Criticising the members of Senate Standing Committee hailing from Balochistan, Raisani questioned their standing and said that what good have they done for Balochistan during their tenure.

He said that what efforts these Senators from Balochistan made for seeking the development funds from Federal government for the province and for inclusion of Balochistan development schemes in Federal PSDP.

He said that it was Balochistan government which succeeded in getting more development funds from Centre for the province.
