Six cops suspended from service


LAHORE – Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir on Thursday paid surprise visits to different parts of the City and suspended six policemen from service for showing negligence at the police pickets.
According to officials, the DIG paid surprise visits to different parts of the provincial metropolis for checking of police pickets, security arrangements, and deployment of policemen in important areas.  Taking strict notice of security lapses, the operations police chief suspended six policemen from their services on the charges of negligence. The DIG also awarded cash prizes to policemen who were standing alert on the point of their duty.
According to an official handout, the DIG paid surprise visits to the Sabzazar, Shera Kot, Mohlanwal, and Thokar Niaz Baig areas to monitor security arrangements.
DIG Tahir suspended six policemen for their services for showing negligence and dereliction at the point of duty. The DIG also ordered the concerned superintendents of police to initiate departmental action against these officials.  The DIG also awarded cash prizes of Rs 2000 each to Head Constable Ashiq Ali and Constable Furrukh Islam during his visit to the Mohlanwal police post since they were vigilantly performing their duties at police pickets.
Gangsters arrested: City police on Thursday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its four members including the ringleader.
SP City police division, Multan Khan, told reporters that the arrested robbers were wanted to the police in several cases of armed robberies. The robbers, identified as Ghulam Muhammad alias Moga, Munir Alam Khan, Akhtar Nawaz and Yaqoob were fleeing in a truck, loaded with stolen motorcycles when the police raided and arrested them. Further investigations are underway.
