Land acquired for Maulana Zafar Ali Urdu University

The Punjab government has acquired 4.5 acres of land for the establishment of Urdu University at the native village of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan under the auspices of Zafar Ali Khan Trust.
Commissioner Gujranwala Division Shumail Ahmed Khawaja disclosed while addressing a symposium held in connection with the 59th annual death anniversary of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan on Saturday.
He said that spadework has been completed to ensure early establishment of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Urdu University He said that it would be a noble way to pay rich tribute to the great leader of Pakistan Movement by establishing the university, which would also be helpful in the promotion of the theory and ideology of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan.
Paying rich tribute to Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, the commissioner said that people had never seen anyone who had the gift of rhyme as Zafar Ali Khan had, a fantastic gift of rhyme. He said that great writer, poet, journalist and freedom champ, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan had been a man of extraordinary ability. Addressing the participants, Chairman Public Service Commission of Pakistan Naveed Akram Cheema also paid rich tributes to the Baba-e-Sahaafat and said that the Maulana Zafar Ali Khan had been a great leader of Pakistan Movement.
The PSC chairman said that he was the father of Urdu journalism, although (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad) was a much more learned man than Zafar Ali Khan at that time.
Chairman Zafar Ali Khan Trust Khalid Mehmood narrated that most of Maulana’s life had spent in politics. He was a great poet, an orator, an essayist of exceptional merit and a journalist. Meanwhile, several delegations of senior journalists from Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Wazirabad, Gujranwala and surroundings visited the shrine of Baba-e-Sahaafat. They laid floral wreaths at his grave and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
