KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has congratulated the people of Karachi for PPP candidate Abdul Hakeem Baloch’s overwhelming victory in the NA-258 by-election.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Bilawal said that Abdul Hakeem Baloch, who was elected on this seat on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ticket in the last general election and then he joined the PPP, should show the path to all former PPP leaders to return to their parent party and carry forward the mission of a democratic Pakistan, as envisioned by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

“Victory of Hakeem Baloch on the PPP ticket a day before PPP’s 50th foundation day is an open message to the people of Pakistan that PPP is the only party, which binds all Pakistanis together," the PPP chairman said. He said the golden jubilee year of the PPP was starting on November 30. He said it was a great moment for a strong and democratic Pakistan, which stood as a model Muslim nation in the world in the 21st century.

Bilawal said that weeklong celebrations on the foundation day in Lahore would provide a great chance to party workers all over the country to reiterate their commitment and conviction to the PPP and its manifesto. "Victory of PPP candidate Hakeem Baloch is just a beginning. PPP candidates will win all over the country in the 2018 general elections," he said.

PPP Sukkur President Anwar Ali Khan Mahar said on Tuesday the party would celebrate its 50th Foundation Day on November 30 with traditional zeal and fervour. He expressed these views while talking to various party delegations at his office here. He said that a seminar would be held at Sukkur House where services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto would be remembered. He said that founder chairman of the PPP and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a genuine leader of this country. His struggle for people’s rights was unprecedented in the political history of Pakistan. He said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the voice of the poor and he worked hard for the welfare of the poor in the country.

Party leaders and workers will pay homage to PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and former premier Benazir Bhutto on this occasion, he added.
