LAHORE - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday stayed the deportation of Pak-Turk Schools’ teachers to Turkey and issued notice to the federal government for January 17, 2017.

Parents of some 147 students have approached the court through senior lawyer Asma Jahangir against the government’s decision to deport teachers of Pak-Turk schools to Turkey.

The petitioners counsel pleaded the court to restrain the federal government from deporting the teachers of the schools. She argued that the teachers had nothing to do with the failed coup attempt in Turkey.

The court while issuing notice to federal government stayed the deportation of the Pak-Turk schools’ teachers. The court directed the government to file reply on the petition filed by the parents of the schools’ students by January 17, 2017.

Meanwhile, the teachers and students of Pak-Turk schools held a protest demonstration outside Punjab Assembly against the government decision to deport the teachers of the schools.

They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the government’s move. Large number of students and teachers of the schools attended the protest demo.
