CCPO unveils security plan

LAHORE - Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains on Wednesday approved a comprehensive security plan to guard religious gatherings and processions on Eid Miladun Nabi.

According to the plan, at least 15,000 police will be deployed on security duties across the provincial metropolis. The police will also step up snap-checking at all the entry and exit points of the city.

Lahore CCPO Amin Wains has also ordered the field police officers to intensify search and combing operations to hunt down suspected persons ahead of the mega religious event, a police spokesman said.

The city police chief issued these directions while presiding over a meeting at his office to finalise security arrangements for the Eid Milad. DIG (Investigation) Chaudhary Sultan, DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmad, SSP Muntazir Mehdi, Tariq Aziz, Ghulam Mubashir Maken, and all divisional SPs of the Operations and Investigation wings of the police were also present on this occasion.  Amin Wains also said that fool proof security arrangement must be ensured on Eid Milad-un-Nabi with maximum deployment of force. All SPs, DSPs, and SHOs should remain in touch with the organisers of religious gatherings and processions to ensure best security arrangements, he added.  Similarly, all mosques and Imambargahs located in the sensitive areas have been divided into A, B, and C categories for security reasons. The city police will provide foolproof security arrangements to every procession of Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Lahore. The Dolphins Squad and Police Response Units will remain on patrol in sensitive area and at important roads.

On this occasion, the CCPO expressed his satisfaction over the law and order situation in Lahore and said that all policemen are playing an important vital role in the elimination of crimes from the city.

DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf informed the meeting that a comprehensive security plan would be implemented across the metropolis. He said that the high-tech police operation rooms would be activated to monitor the all main processions.
